Kalpesh Desai is a technology entrepreneur, board advisor and author whose career has spanned more than three decades across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. He has built, scaled, transformed and—twice—successfully exited technology businesses, working at the intersection of strategy, governance and enterprise technology. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Agile Financial Technologies, an insurance technology company he established in 2007. Today, Agile serves insurers, banks and financial institutions in more than thirty countries through a portfolio of enterprise platforms that help organisations run, grow and govern their businesses.  Prior to founding Agile, Desai founded Xmediaries, whose flagship CrossRoads enterprise relationship management platform was acquired by Insyst in 2002 — his first operator exit. He then joined Insyst as Chief Operating Officer, which was subsequently exited (his second exit). He later served as Chief Operating Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at 3i Infotech, where he played a leadership role in the company's transition from an IT services organisation to a global enterprise software business — a transformation later documented as a published INSEAD case study. His entrepreneurial interests extend beyond financial technology. He is the founder of My Life’s Vault, a family preparedness platform designed to bridge the gap between financial planning and estate planning by helping individuals and families organise the information, documents and decisions needed for life’s expected and unexpected events. A separate company is being established to develop and scale the platform independently. Alongside his executive responsibilities, Desai serves as Non-Executive Director of SunGlobal Investments (Middle East) Limited, a regulated investment bank based in the Dubai International Financial Centre, and as Advisor to the Board of Artee Group, the franchise partner of SPAR International in Nigeria. His board and advisory work focuses on governance, institutional resilience, technology strategy, succession planning, international operating discipline and long-term value creation, particularly within regulated and technology-enabled businesses. Desai is also an active mentor and advisor to founders, leadership teams and emerging ventures, contributing to organisations ranging from technology start-ups to purpose-led foundations. His work is centred on helping organisations evolve from founder dependence to institutional strength through stronger governance, thoughtful use of technology and disciplined execution. As an author, he writes on leadership, governance and custodianship. His upcoming business novel, Not on My Watch, published by Shrishti Publishers, explores the consequences of organisational drift and the responsibility of leaders to intervene before decline becomes irreversible. He has also written literary fiction and poetry, including Jasmines in Her Hair and What the Train Left Behind, and regularly publishes thought leadership articles on transformation, technology innovation, governance, entrepreneurship, fintech, insurtech and preparednesstech. Kalpesh Desai is based in Dubai and works internationally with organisations, boards and leadership teams across financial services, insurance, retail and technology.
