WHY I WRITE
BUSINESS NARRATIVE • SHORT FICTION • POETRY
Most people know me through the companies I’ve built. Writing is simply another part of my life where leadership, work, failure and love stop being ideas and start becoming experiences again.
I write because it is where I can think without having to arrive anywhere. Things I cannot resolve in meetings or strategy decks often find their way into my books.
Business demands decisions. There are deadlines, consequences and accountability. Writing asks nothing of me except honesty. It gives me the freedom to explore the parts of life that cannot be measured on a balance sheet.
I write about relationships as they are lived, not as they are explained. Marriage, family, loyalty, resentment, grief, forgiveness, care, and the small negotiations that happen every day between people who choose to stay.
I write about work from the inside — the pressure, the responsibility, the loneliness of leadership, and the weight of decisions that rarely have perfect answers.
I rarely write heroes or villains because most people are neither. They are simply trying to do the best they can with the choices in front of them. That has been true in every boardroom I have sat in, and it is equally true in every story I write.
I deliberately leave many of my characters unnamed so that readers can recognise someone they know rather than someone I have imagined — a colleague, a business partner, an investor, a parent, a spouse, a neighbour, or perhaps even themselves.
Some of these books are gentle. Some are direct. Some may leave you uncomfortable. What connects them is a single question that has stayed with me for years:
How do we take complete responsibility for our lives without hardening ourselves in the process?
